Seeing as Google had nothing on the subject I'd go for:
e) Interviewer talking out his backside

Best options in these situations might be to ask the interviewer for a little more info or an example - then wing it or smile and simply admit you have no idea. Not being able to answer a question in an interview isn't fail - it just shows you what areas you might need to revise.

You may of course know the concept, just not the specific term, which is another reason why Mike's suggestion is a good one.
