I am new to database design.

I want to develop a Booking System.My needs Includes

1) Generate Reference number
2) Avoid Double Booking
3) Keep Statistics
4) Allow to cancel Bookings


Can anyone plz suggest which database is best suit to develop a desktop applications?


I am having MS access 2007 installed in my system. Is that enough?
