I am looking for a technology not necessarily relational database to support the following.

1. Support many small writes
2. Support huge data volume
3. Support different query types such as range and aggregate

What I do not care about
1. update
2. delete

possible application domains: mail and archives

Well, a relational database server will certainly do the job for you. Don't know what other options there would be that are efficient for large data sets.
