Question Can someone check my finished ERD? Quick Review

I just completed my design and needed some advice/someone to look it over. The database I am creating is for for the recruiting of high school baseball prospects for my college. It should be able to show various statistics as well as the communication going on between players and coaches. This is my first database class so I am still learning. I have included my ERD. If someone could tell me if I am on the right track it would be appreciated.

Three things I am not sure about:

1. Was I correct to split the statistics into three different table? I did this thinking that players who are not pitchers would not have the pitching stats such as strikeouts, etc.

2. I was having some trouble with identifying relationships. Is it just the basic rule that the child cannot exist without a record in the parent table?

3. Are my 1-many relationships between prospect and statistics correct?
