Is it possible to create a web application using apache/php/mysql that has some tables on the web server and some on the client workstation, where the workstation has xampp installed?

Ummm... I suppose that it is possible, but I can't think of any situation where it would be a good idea.

Pat, should we delete this thread before anymore people see it, or leave it as an example of how the phrasing of a question can affect the answer.
I spent a couple of hours yesterday researching how to access a database using javascript or the web browser, when all I really needed to do was start the application on the local server, and have it access the remote server.
Done every day:
Customer name and credit card number on the local server, credit card number and balance owing on the remote server.
