Position Description: Data Warehouse, UDB DBA

Contractor for Hire ? minimum 3 month assignment



Candidate should possess a minimum of 4-6 years of DBA experience with a minimum of 3-4 yrs experience in supporting UDB databases, preferably the
experience supporting a Data Warehousing environment. Candidate should be
a highly skilled DBA in all levels of managing the physical database design, implementation, maintenance and support functions in a data warehouse environment.

Position responsibilities:

* Database software installation and maintenance
* Physical/Logical Database object design and implementation
* Database performance tuning
* Backup and recovery support ? includes on call support rotation

Key Skills Required:

* Strong verbal/written communication skills
* Experience working with large scale databases
* Strong in application/performance tuning, indexing and optimization
* Troubleshooting skills
* Strong in writing dynamic SQL
* Database configuration in AIX environment
* Strong problem solving skills in a production environment
* Working knowledge of AIX operating systems
* Familiar with command line process and tools for DB2 UDB
* Ability to instruct developers in design, coding/debugging of SQL
* SQL tuning/explain plans
* Technical certifications preferred
* Unix Scripting
