Cool Question about migration AIX from 5.1 32 bit to 5.2 64 bit on DB2 servers
Hi all,

Now the version of DB2 servers is V8.1 on AIX 5.1 32 bit in our environment. We have to
upgrade AIX from 5.1 ML4 32 bit to 5.2 ML2 64 bit on DB2 servers. After doing the upgrade
of AIX, should we do anything for DB2 servers or even DB2 clients ?

Please give me advise and info resource. Thank you so much !!

You DO NOT HAVE to change to 64bit DB2. If you have a lot of memory (>4gig) 64 bit DB2 is a good choice. See

Once you update to 64-bit AIX, make sure you run a db2iupdt on the instance ...

Though I have not seen a docment, I guess you will need the instance update as some of the characteristics of the OS has changed
