Question Connect from ver 8 to ver 7

AIX 5.2 DB2 8.1.5

Hi guys - 2 questions:

1. Does any of the senior members remember if recursive
sql was supported for version 7?

2. Is it possible to register a version 7 remote databae (on AIX)
in a Version 8.1.5 Control Center on Windows

Hope you guys can help.

Cheers

You can register a remote version 7 database using version 8 Control Center. However some functions will not work properly. But you do need one of the later version 7 fixpaks installed as a minimum requirement on the server to do this.

It wasn't that long ago :-) Some people still run it... Yes, recursive SQL is supported in v7.

Hi Tank,

I still use v7.2 on windows because of too bugy v8.1. I have been bodering the IBM since realise of fixpack. And as as see the fixpack 6 solves all my problems with db2.

And the answer: recusive SQL is supported in v7. I think it was supported already in v6 mybe even in v5. Recusive SQL is not new staff.

Thanks,
Grofaty
