Question Latin Character Display - DB2v7.1 OS/390

Hi,

We have a new table in our system in which we store messages in both English and Spanish (rows distinguished by Language Identifier). The encoding scheme for the database/ tablespace is CCSID. The Latin characters display as periods if we browse the table in File-Aid for DB2 or as funky characters in the query results for DB2 Connect.

Only if we write the contents out to an ASCII file (e.g. send the output of the query using DB2 Connect to a .TXT file), do we get the correct Latin characters displayed. We know the characters are being correctly stored, but how do we DISPLAY them correctly (like, is there a function...)?

Is this a limitation in DB2 v7.1 - OS/390?

Thanks
RM
