cursor processing in bash shell script ?

Guys,

i have to combine three columns into one column after reformatting the data(one of the column is a date(yyyy-mm-dd) that will be formatted to yyddd).Since this affects multiple rows i need to use a cursor to process the logic, My second question is can you do cursor processing in BASH shell script?
