problem install DB 8.1 on RHEL 3

Hi all,
im new in linux and i need to install the DB2

i read all the info but still i have some problems and i need help

1. i install IBMjava 1.3.1 from the DB2 disc into opt/java like it want but i dont know how to associate it with the home page??
im using redhat RHEL 3 enterprise edition

also when i type ./db2setup i get this error

/mnt/cdrom/db2/linux/install/db2jinst: line 131: 4910 Segmentation fault $JAVA_PATH/$JAVA_INTERPRETER $JAVA_OPTIONS -cp $JAVA_CLASSPATH $DB2SetupRun "$@" 2>/tmp/db2setup.err****nning


need help fast fast fast ......alot is in stake in here

Not sure what's causing that exact problem, but if you need a quick solution I'd recommend doing the install manually instead of using the db2setup program. I believe it's db2_install. It won't set up any instances or communications, so only do that if you know how to do that.

IBM recommeding that use db2setup to install their product.
But this forum is fully of people who ran into trouble by using this tool.
db2_install is the best way to install db2 products.

I had problems running db2_install using the bash shell on Linux. Many of the DB2 scripts have problems running under the bash shell (the default shell for Linux).
