Question DB2 Connect - Secure Transmissions?

I've read that I can get DB2 Connect's login encrypted, but is there any way to get DB2Connect to encrypt the actual data it sends/receives?

We have an offsite mainframe we're connecting to that we'd like to secure the data transmissions to and from.

Is this possible with just the DB2 Connect software, or do you have to do something more along the lines of the network (like SSL, VPN, etc.)?

Any help or information is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan
