During a restore, does db2 attempt to use the instance owner that backed up the database? I'm attempting to restore on a different box using a different instance owner. During the restore I'm getting container access problems.

During a restore, does db2 attempt to use the instance owner that backed up the database? NO you can backup a database from any instance and restore it under any instance.

Since you are restoring on a different box you will have to use the redirected restore option and define all the paths for the containers. Please also ensure that you have write access to the desired file systems.
