Talking can backup from version7.2 restore redirect to version8.1

hi,everyone.
i want to backup my old db with version7.2 on one machine,and retore redirct it to another machine as new db
can i do it?
will i get some error?

As long as it is from the same OS, the V8.1 manual for RESTORE says that it can read backup images from the two previous versions.

Coincidentally I did exactly that this morning - Win 2000 DB2 v7.2 backup to create db on Win XP DB2 v8.1.

All works fine apart from I get some strange error about when trying to access Task_Center - DBA1177N A database connection to the Tools Catalog Database "" cannot be made. SQLCODE "1013" - which is why I am here!

Regardless, all the data is in place and as it should be.
