I have installed db2 7.1 workgroup edition on windows 2003 server.
Is it a good idea to upgrade to next versions. Can I just apply fixpacks to upgrade it. Are there any step by step instructions to do so.

Which is the stable fixpack.

I think you better upgrade to version 8.1.

For the fixpack to be applied I would suggest 6a till you get comfortable with the changes in fixpak 7a (which takes it to version 8.2).
