Just learned from IBM website, if DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 8 Support JDBC Type 4 Driver, DB2 connect is not needed for an application to directly access Db2 on mainframe.

It also says it's not simply true for many reasons.

Anybody experienced same situations before?
