What is the db2 7.1 equilavent to the Oracle command 'startup restrict' ? The restrict mode does not allow users to connect to a database if they don't have sufficient authority.

By default, connect privledge to a database is given to public when the database is created. So if you just revoke this authority (or any specific connect grants to id's you want to revoke), you shoud get what you want.

It may be the quiesce database/instance command you want ...

You should be atleast on V8.1 to have this feature

If you want to only allow sysadm authority to have access to a database, then the quiesce ccommand should work fine. If you want other specific users to be able to connect (but not everyone) then you can control it by revoking their connect privledge.
