I need to re-precomplie my programs to make the setting available?

PS I suppose I should point out that nothing I write comes with any guarantee of correctness. Like Johnson's definition of pastern, sometimes I write out of "ignorance, pure ignorance". Everything should be tested in the cauldron of your own environment.
