how to install PTF in os/390

friends,

using DB2 v7 on os/390.
i have downloaded UQ72083 PTF to enable The Universal Driver to support database meta data catalog queries and server error message text retrieval through the use of prerequisite stored procedures installed on the target server.

the download file is mptf5594.bin . i don't know how to install it in os/390... can anybody help me to know the exact steps to be followed to install a ptf in os/390..

Appreciate your help.

Jake

Hi,
Why don't you contact IBM support?

There should also have been a couple of other files, one giving you instructions. But as a summary
- FTP the .bin file to the m/frame using BINARY transfer
- use TRSMAIN to de-compress it
- use SMP to receive and apply the PTFs. (Depending on the PTF you may have also been given a variety of pre-req, co-req and supp PTFs.)

If you don't know how to do this DON'T TRY. Many years ago I taught a three day course in how to manage SMP. Mess it up and you won't be popular. You probably won't even have the required UPDATE authorities.

See your friendly sysprogs.
