Red face converting Logfiles

I'm feeling particularly stupid today (maybe it's cos it's a Monday)

In the past, I've used a tool to convert the logfiles to an ascii format so I could read them, but I have completely forgotten what/where it was. Googling and rummaging thru the manual has failed to turn up anything that rings any bells.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a logfile convertion utility/tool?

tia
