I am experiencing a low hitratio on my bufferpool, I want to increase the bufferpool to increase the hitratio, should I be increasing the BUFFPAGE parameter or alter the bufferpool 'alter bufferpool' a bit confused because when I increased the bufferpool using the ' alter bufferpool IBMDEFAULTBP' I see that in the 'db cfg' the BUFFPAGE remains the same value even after restarting DB2.

The BUFFPAGE configuration parameter is just a default parameter. If you create a bufferpool of size -1, the value of this parameter is used. It can only be changed using the UPDATE DB CFG command. This parameter goes away in V8.
