Is IBM Universe just a new DB2?

Hi all,

I've been asked to look up IBM Universe but can't find much. Am I right in thinking it is just DB2 with a new name and presumably new features?

Thanks,

Paula

Just perform a search on www.ibm.com on the subject 'universe' immediately gives a small synopsis.

UniVerse

The UniVerse database is not a version of DB2 at all. It's been around for many years and started out life with the company Vmark. It's been bought a few times over its life, spending time with Ardent, Informix, and now IBM. It's a "Pick" based multi-valued field database, using UniVerse Basic as it's programming language, and complete with it's own query language, including SQL-style formats.

UniVerse is an RDBMS (Relational Data Base Management System) that is based on the Pick multi valued operating system. For a full history do a search for the Pick operating system.
