I am getting U3042 abend in a DB2 program. The first sql statement itself fails without giving any sql error. There is some problem in connectivity. But not sure how to fix it. plz help

I assume that your paltform is z/OS (otherwise folks usually don't talk about abends)

But: what is your database ? DB2 ? Which version ?
And what are you doing, connecting from some client application or executing a job on z/OS ? What kind of job ?

I found this abend code for IMS, is that what you are doing?

could u plzz tell me how could u solve this abend... m using IMSDC region as my front end.. whenever v get the IMS region down and I try to execute my IMSDC/DB2 program I get this abend... How can this be solved..

What is IMS-DB2? Do you mean IMS/DS?

No Stolze... I am runing a DB2 application in IMSDC region.... My backend database is DB2 and my front end is IMS DC...
