Example needed

Does anyone have a COBOL program accessing a DB2 database that I could have as an example? I have extensive COBOL experience as well as MS SQL experience but have no experience in modifying a COBOL program to read a DB2 table rather than a VSAM file. I am at franko@uainfo.arizona.edu

Thanks

juliane26,

Thanks for the great link. The last time I saw a COBOL app fronting DB2 was a number of years ago at a banking client. Unfortunately (from a purist's perspective at least) they seem rather few and far between.

Have you got a feel as to the number of sites with this setup?

Thanks.

We are a bank and DB2 z/OS 'is our heart beat' so to say.

Still, here we have more of PL/1, but that we have plenty and also new development.

I guess clients use either COBOL or PL/1.

New development tend to be 3-tier, still our batch processing is powerful and no plans to change that.

Traditional z/OS customers like banks will always have it, I have seen COBOL also in manufacturing (a car company) and telecommunication.
