Can db2 will run afer degrading it from dual processor to a single processor

Hi Greetings

We are using DB2 8.2 on Dual Processor Windows 2000 Server. I would like to know if i remove One processor from my dual processor server will it affect DB2 running on that machine. Do I need to re-install DB2 after remove one processor from the server ?

No, you do not need to reinstall. DB2 starts multiple agents at the same time when it can, but leaves it up to the operating system to process them.

AFAIK, you don't need to do anything to let DB2 know the reduction in number of processors .. Make sure you 'reboot' the machine though

You should also review parameters - like PARALLELISM, NUM_IOCLEANERS etc which are usually set based on the number of CPUs
