I’ve restored a database on a new db2 udb 8.1 of AIX server from an online backup image taken from my old server using redirected restore. However, there are some log file from my old server that I still want to use roll forward in my new server. My question is how to roll forward on a server which is in normal state?

Your database should be in rolforward-pending state if what you say is true(not normal). Please post all the commands you executed. In AIX, the relevant history file might help you reconstruct the sequence.

Try to connect to the DB after you have restored from the online backup image. It must say the Database is in rollforward pending state.
After that just execute the ROLLFORWARD command.
