Arrow UNIX V8.1 and V8.2 clients

Team,

Can we have two V8 clients in same machine.
V8.1 client is already installed under default dir /usr/opt/db2_08_01 and it has one instance.

Now, I would like to install V8.2 client and test my applications.

Does this installatio affect the existing V8.1 client.
Is it any other way of having two V8 clients.
Is it possible to install it in different installation directory other than /usr/opt/db2_08_01.

Thanks
Ra

Currently V8.1 fixpak 0 is installed (V8.1 client)

I plan to install V8.2 client(which is nothing but V8.1 fixpak 7)

I suspect both installations will go to same directory. One db2level.. one db2icrt... Any other way?

Thanks,
Ra

Very much possible ....

Search for Alternate fixpak in the Information Centre ..

Also, read the readme file that comes with the Fixpak to understand specific support for that fixpak to coexist with others ...

Please let us know ur findings

Admin client cannot be installed other than /usr/opt/db2_08_01 default directory.

Only upgrade to same directory is possible for admin client.

Scenario:
DB2 V8.1 fp0 client is installed in the AIX box.
> db2level
DB21085I Instance "db2cli02" uses "32" bits and DB2 code
release "SQL08010" with level identifier "01010106".
Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.1.0", "s021023", "", and FixPak "0".
Product is installed at "/usr/opt/db2_08_01".
> db2 get dbm cfg | pg
Database Manager Configuration

Node type = Client

If I install V8.1 fp7a DB2 regular fixpak on the top, does this update client software ALSO?
OR
I have to install specifically V8.1 fp7a ADMIN CIENT on it. I tried installing V8.1 fp7a ADMIN CLIENT installation errors....
"A DB2 product at version 8, release 1, modification 0, and service level 0 is already installed on this machine. The installation you are attempting to perform is for DB2 at version 8, release 1, modification 7, and service level U498350,so will not be permitted"

Thanks for your help.

You can only apply fixpack 7a (for client) on the top of the existing installation.
