Where did DB2 V8.2 start from?

Hi I am a little confused on DB2's version number. It seems V8.2 is just V8.1 + FixPackn. Starting from which fixpack of V8.1 does IBM call it V8.2?

Hi,

From 8.1.7 it is called 8.2 so 8.1.8 = 8.2.1 etc.

Hope this answers your question

But just to make certain that everyone understands, 8.1.7 is FP7 and the first release of 8.2 (8.2.0). The current FP11 is 8.2.4 (sometimes called 8.2 FP4).

The main reason for this confusion is that IBM decided not charge extra for 8.2, which is free for anyone who has a license for 8.1, so it was issued as a Fix Pack.
