HI All,

I have a quick question to all those who have worked with database monitoring tools for DB2 like Quest Central, DBArtisan and tools from BMC.

How do these tools capture performance information, do they take snapshots of the database, application, bufferpools, etc at different intervals?
Doesn't this process causes lot of overhead to the database because of monitor switches being turned on at all times? Is there any other way in DB2 to capture the performance information other than taking snapshots?

I am working on DB2 UDB v8.1 FP 7
