Talking Create user in DB2 v8.1 FP11

Hello my fellow dbjunkies!!

I want to create a user in DB2 and I dont want the user to exist in the OS. Is this possible?? I beginning to think that it's not.

It's a DB2 v8.1 FP11 on a Windows 2000 server.

Best Regards

No this is not possible. You must create the user in the OS for DB2 to use it.

Thanks Andy!!!

Do you know if its possible to do this in a later version of DB2? Somewhere I heard that it should be possible in DB2 v8.2 and later...

Well 8.1 FP 11 is actuall 8.2. There is a security plugin mechanism that you can look into. I have not really had any experience with it since we rather are content with the normal method.
