Licensing - DB2 express-c edition

Hello everybody,

i have a general db2 licensing question. I have installed the DB2 express-c edition installed on my system. Now i want to upgrade to fix 12, but i only find the fix 12 for the normal db2 express edition. Is there a special on for DB2 express-c edition?

Do i have now a full DB2 express edition?

Thanks
toette

You cannot upgrade DB2 Express-C with regular fixpacks, and you can only update it with a new version of DB2 Express-C (using special upgrade instructions they provide if you have Linux). IBM has said that they will not release new versions of DB2 Express-C every time there is a new fixpack.

So far there have only been two releases of DB2 Express-C:

- DB2 V8 FP 11 (same as 8.2 FP4)
- DB2 V9 (no fixpack).

Thanks for the quick answer.
But i installed the normal fix pack 12 and it seems to work without any problems.

Can you tell me where i am able to view the exact version, if it is "express" or "express-c"?

Do you have Windows or Linux?

Since DB2 for Windows fixpacks are complete installs (not just changes), you may have just overlaid the code with a copy of DB2 Express (but without a permanent license).

My Windows copy of DB2 Express-C says this with db2licm -l

Product Name = "DB2 Universal Database Express Edition"
Product Identifier = "DB2EXP"
Version Information = "8.2"
Expiry Date = "Permanent"
Registered User Policy = "Disabled"
Enforcement Policy = "Soft Stop"
Number of processors = "2"
Number of licensed processors = "2"
Annotation = ""
Other information = ""
