New Datatype in DB2

hi all,
an application developer is looking to stored "currency" as a field in one of the tables. however does not want to use the db2 data type 'double'. instead wants to create a new datatype 'money'.
Is there a way in DB2 to create a new datatype? If so, how do i go about starting?
Thank you,
Poorvi
