QMF for Windows, populating substitution variables

Hello all,

I have figured out how to use a substitution variable in a query within QMF for Windows, and now I would like to be able to take it one more step. I would like to be able to populate that substitution variable with a value from an external text file. Does anyone know if this can be done and if so, how?

you almost need some logic from any language (like perl ...)
get the file data and call qmf with the retieved value

I see... well I was trying to come up with a solution that used QMF and QMF only, as the alternative is a CICS screen. Which I will now put together I guess
