Data missing in servers

Hi,

We have our databases in IBM DB2 database hosted on AIX. We have our scheduled backup activity taking place daily. Today after taking the back up, we were not able to connect to any of the databases. It was showing the error, "Communication Protocol Error". When we checked the size on the disk using t he command "df -k", it showed under "1%" used for the filesystem mounted on "/data". All the data that was present in that filesystem is now not present.
Can anybody help me to find my data on the server?

- Which version of DB2 are you using?
- How exactly did you take the backup? Is there some script involved that may do some additional things?
- Which exact error message do you get?

We use Version 8.1. And we take the back up using the control center. After taking the back up we move the images to tapes, the folders like the db2dump and the container files everything went missing. When consulted with IBM persons they told that somebody would have deleted them. I am not sure about that.
