Db2 license file update problem

Hi ALL,

ENV : DB2 UDB v8.2 FP 14, OS - AIX 5.3

I am working on updating the license for DB2 on a cluster. I have 2 LPARs where one is primary and one is secondary. We are using HACMP to facilitate the failover. The instances are created on SAN and is right now attached to primary server. I have updated the license key on the primary server using db2licm but its not working on the secondary server as it DB2 says that there are no instances created.

Do i have to attach the SAN to secondary server to update the license key or can i create a sample instance on secondary server and update the license and then just drop that sample instance?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Anks

You will have to fail it over to the standby, then run db2licm, then fail it back.

wow. Thats sad...i wonder why the license is tied up with the instance, it seems to be very stupid.

Thanks for the response.
