Question DB2 8.2 (Fixpak 11) to DB2 9.1 (Fixpak 4) Migration

Hi all,
My business decided that we need to upgrade DB2. Currently we are on DB2 V8.2 Fixpak 11 on a SPARC hardware (SunFire 250 i think) running Solaris 8. We would like to move to DB2 9.1 (Fixpak 4) (a.k.a Viper 1) atleast.

Currently the databases are on 64 bit instance and i would be creating a 64 bit instance on Viper too.

My question is would taking backups of the existing databases and restoring on the Viper instance work?

Are there any precautions i need to take? Could anyone tell me the road map for this migration?

Thanks in Advance,
Newbie

if you are migrating on the same OS , there won't be any problem in restoring. After restore the db2 will migrate it to current FP level.
Better try on a test system first.
