federated access of sql server from db2 v8

Hi All,

Do i need to use websphere information integrator to access sql server data in db2.

yes you do need this feature, only for db2 sources this is included in base code

All IBM sources (DB2 + IDS) are part of the base code.

so i can configure sql server as data source without installing anything else. I am at db2v8.1 fix pak 16 and solaris OS

If you have WebSphere Information Integrator installed, you can go ahead and configure the federated access to your MS SQL Server system.

is there any difference between websphere information integrator and db2 information integrator. some places i have encountered the former and some places i have encountered the later.

Same thing. At some point, it was renamed for some reason or other.
