Can i take a remote backup. I want to take backup of database(which are on solaris) from my windows machine remotely. Is that possible? if no, Can i take a backup from solaris to solaris

can you please describe what is the problem at first place. Why don't you make a scheduler which makes backups by itself?

i want my solaris database copy to be on a windows server. But as there is no compatibility between the backups on different platform, I cant restore the backup taken from solaris to windows. So i thought i would try to take a remote backup from windows to solaris...but i think that also not possible. I tried it.

there is no backup/restore compatibility from Solaris to Windows. The only supported way is to have db2lookup to get definitions and db2move to move data.
