DB2 Unix Encryption Key

Hi I'm new in my job here, and one of the DB2 DBAs(who inheritted one of the Unix DB2's from someone who has left) doesn't know the encryption key and can't do anything with the database. I left the DB2 Unix world about 5 years ago, but I was thinking that he might be able to go into sh_history file and see the command issued with the key as long as we don't prune our history file here. We can't get into root and may need a Sys Admin to do so, but does anyone know if the encryption key would be part of a command that may still be in the history file?
