The db2diag.log file is not created during installation. It is created when necessary by the Database Manager.
What do you mean by "System Database Directory"?

Hi,
when you run the following command: 'list db directory on c:' it take the contents from the directory C:\DB2\NODE0000\SQLDBDIR' which we call as local database directory and when give only 'list db directory' the contents of the output are taken from system database directory located at
C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\DB2\SQLDBDIR
This all m talking about is in db2v8.1 but i cant see any directory with name db2 in db2v9.5 at location C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\...
so wanted to know from where actually the output of command 'list db directory' comes from????
and i am talking about diagnostic log which we find in other versions with name 'db2diag' but no such file is found in v9.5. is it created by any other name???

The file name is db2diag.log and is located in the instance path, not the database path. This is because it has messages for the instance, not just one specific database.
I am not sure about Windows, but on all other OS's it is located in <instance-home>/sqllib/db2dump path. Note that the SQLLIB path mentioned here is not the same SQLLIB path as in the database path.

You can avoid the search by looking an the DBM CFG parameter named DIAGPATH. In V9.5 on Linux, it is still pointing to sqllib/db2dump/db2diag.log by default.

On DB2 9.5 for Windows, the DIAGPATH is blank by default.
