I don't think there is a client license. client code can be downloaded for free and is not licensed.

Question client licensing

Hi,
I am using DB2 v9.5 ESE.
I have gone through the pricing model for db2. It talks about the two model but dint understood still that how are client license charged for the same or are they free with ESE.

we have 200 value unit license. What does this say about client and server license???

Generally, DB2 is licensed by the number of CPU's (now measured as Processor Value Units) or users. The actual client software is free regardless of whether you license by processor or user.

Since you have 200 PVUs, you have a CPU license. 200 PVU's is equal to two dual-core Intel/AMD processors, or one quad-core Intel/AMD processor. If you have a IBM Power CPU or other (Sun Sparc, HP, etc) then the PVU count may be different.
