Question rename db

Hi,
I am using db2v9.5 ESE on windows.
While renaming a database I get the following error:
DBT1022N The DB2RELOCATEDB tool must be run under instance "DB2".
which says:
DBT1022N The DB2RELOCATEDB tool must be run under instance
"<instance-name>".

Explanation:
An attempt has been made to run the DB2RELOCATEDB tool from an incorrect
instance. If the instance is changing then the tool should be run from
the new instance.

User response:
Resubmit the command using the correct instance.

I checked for the instance in which I am running the command and it shows the right and expected one only. So what is then going wrong?

How exactly? What did you check and what did you see?
b.t.w. I agree with the previous poster: when you can aviod the relocate and use a "redirected restore", go for the restore. More safe and easier.

what are the various options you are using for db2relocatedb ?
i usually prefer it as it usually renames the db name within a min. or so where bkp/restore may take hrs to do same
