I am new to the z/OS but was a Windows DBA and I was wondering if there is an equivalent of the DB2LOOK command for the z/OS or is there another utility like BMC that I must use.

We are wanting to capture the ddl structure before we make changes.

If you have BMC I would use that. I don't think there is a native utility that does that, although most add-on products will do it. They all read the DB2 catalog tables to reconstruct the DDL.

If you have the ability to connect to mainframe from the DB2 Control Center on Windows, it may be able to do that, I am not sure.

you can use DB2Admin or Platinum tools on z/OS- they are very convenient to create DDLs.
