Red face Can anybody help me on DB2 V9.1 FP5 on AIX 5.3

Hi,

I am running DB2 V9.1 FP 5 on AIX 5.3 on a P-series server.

The server refused to accept telnet sessions and it was logging off users who tried to connect to telnet.

While checking the DB2 error logs in db2diag.log I found out the following...

looks like you are running out of memory and you cannot start a new process(telnet session). stop the database instance; edit the database configuration; set DATABASE MEMORY to 4 or 5 gig; also increase the swap space to some 5-6 gig;what are your current database settings?; if the server is dedicated to db2, you can allocate 30-40% of memory to databases;if you use CIO,(use FILE CACHING when creating tablespace) you can go upto 70%for database, about 10% for file caching and about 20% for OS and processes

How do i find out the database settings?

Mota,

Thanks for the guidance...I am analyzing the problem the way you have directed...

We are running Oracle 10G as well as DB2 V9.1 FP5 in the same server on AIX 5.3.

As I am new to this DB2 stuff i want to know how do i set the Database memory?

Can anybody tell me the process to find out my current database settings?...

I have dynamically increased the paging space with 1 logical partition for testing purpose...

Thanks in advance guys.....
