HADR question.

db2 V9.1 FP5
AIX 5.3

can we automatically do a failover of HADR .
I know HADR is manula. But by using a third party software can we do a automatic failover .

Or the ONly option is using HACMP.

There are other products also like Tivoli System Automation (TSA) and Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) which works on AIX. I haven't used any of the two. I have only used HACMP.

Tivoli System Automation comes free with DB2, but I found it difficult to use. although the last version we used was 2.1 and improvements have been made since then.

Currently we use Red Hat Cluster Suite, but someone has to write scripts to trigger an HADR takeover if the Cluster software detects a problem (such as server down). We are using a VIP for the database IP address that the Cluster Suite switches over in addition to doing an HADR takeover. Obviously, RH Cluster Suite will not work with AIX.
