virtual hostname
I'm testing HACMP cluster failover. db2start would fail with sql6048n when changing the hostname from hard coded server name to virtual name in db2nodes.cfg.

You need to check that hostname resolution is performed using /etc/hosts. Check /etc/netscv.conf on both systems for "hosts=local,bind". Please search for netscv in this redbook for more info: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg247363.pdf
