Give yourself time , I dedicated all my evenings to studying for 5 months.

For version 8, we did an DB2 administration practical course at the University (alas, in German). Following that was a wrap-up session from IBM, combined with the actual certification test. Nearly all of the students passed the DBA test (in at most 2 attempts), and a small group attempted "advanced DBA" and half of them passed. I attribute this to the extensive preparations, directly working with the system. You can cover much with literature, but if you have it tried hands-on at least once, it helps tremendously.

lucky you. i did not get anything when I got my certification 4 months ago. not even a tap on a head

5 months of nightly studying? Have you ever supported a system before? I admit I haven't been certified lately, last time was V7, but I did no special preparation. Just found a break in my schedule during IDUG conference in San Diego and went to the lab they had set up.
