Memory Allocation

Hello. I have one instance of DB2 (V8.1 Fixpak17a) running on a 64 bit Linux (SLES10SP2) box. I have 32G of memory. Currently DB2 has 60% of this memory and OS has 40%. I would like to know the best practice for the memory allocation. Also how much of swap space should i have. Thanks

Swap space should be twice the amount of physical RAM, in your case 64 GB. As for the amount of memory that DB2 is using, it depends on what else is running on the server.

If the server is dedicated to DB2, then give it as much memory as possible without causing problems with the OS.

Thanks, we are thinking of giving 80% to DB2 and 20% to OS of the 32G, do you think this will be ok? Thanks again
