mucho gracias :-) but there's no indication to lime size of the entire SQL statement size??
and still dont know if switching to using bind variables wil help reducing the size of an SQL statement
You need "Maximum total length of an SQL statement (in bytes)". That's the maximum length as it appears in your code. If you have parameter markers, the text is relevant. If you have spaces or comments, those count as well. The actual value to which a host variable refers to does not count.
