offline maintenance window

SAP ECC 6.0
DB2 9.5 FP2a

A point of confusion that I can not seem to make clear:
The AUTOREORG available for use within SAP's db6cockpit seems to be functionally equivalent to the DB2 AUTO_REORG. My understanding, though, is that the DB2 AUTO_REORG will only reorg tables during an offline maintenance window. Can anyone confirm this for me? Also, if an offline maintenance window is configured, my understanding is that SAP could NOT be up and running during the offline window. Can anyone confirm this too for me?
